Live each day with a smile, it makes such a difference ........
Our Wedding Day
What a fantastic day it was. I spent the night at my besties house. We woke and had toast and tea in bed looking rather desheveled from the late night before trying to make sure everything was all ready.
Who would think we would go from this above ...........
To this in a matter of hours and some magic by a few certain people.
It was also my birthday, so with the tea in hand sat in bed I opened my pressis and cards. Such lovely words from everyone. Beautiful gifts i'm so lucky to have such special friends and family.
I had my make-up booked at Mac for 10am so off I went into town. As I sat in Voisins watching everyone walking by whilst the Mac Make-up artist did her magic I thought to myself what a wonderful day its going to be. Our gorgeous friends and family had come over from Uk to be here for our special day. I truely felt such happiness, and maybe a little of the blushing bride.
As I left and was walking down town headling back to Jans I spotted my Uk besties sat in the coffee shop, what a lovely suprise. I went in and joined them for a birthday/wedding coffee and a catch up before I headed back. Just to sit and enjoy a coffee with them was so special. These girls I spent 15 weeks with living in a dorm block at Police training college. We shared everything, we laughed, cried, joined the local gym, ate heaps of chocolate and practised handcuffing on the floors of the coridoors wearing just underwear (claud bird usually on her head ) It was an amazing time together and we have stayed the best of friends for now the last 16 years. I love them very much. They may not be my blood but they are family to me.
As I got back to Jans, Des our wedding hairdresser was there and mid way through Jans hair. I poured the Bucks Fizz and sat and chatted. Once all 3 of us girls were finished my boys arrived all suited and booted looking gorgeous and so handsome. They were walking me up the aisle and giving me away. Time to get dressed.
We were ready bang on time, Jan and Olivia went off up to La Hougue Bie first leaving Luke, Kyle and I at Jans. Brandon was driving. Was I nervous ? nahhhhhh not at all. I was just hoping everything was going to go to plan ! after all I had organised everything myself.
The sun was out although a bit chilly. (It was April) I actually scrubbed up quite well. The drive up was so funny, Kyle and i were in the back singing away whilst recording on instagram. We got stuck in traffic an few times and kyle was loving the fact with having the wedding ribbons on the car everyone we passed was stopping to look and some give us a wave.
We pulled into this beautiful heritage site, 10th oldest place in the world. Older than the pyramids. We could see everyone sat on the benches to the side of the matted aisle where we were to walk up. Jan and Olivia were stood by the side waiting for us.
As I exited the car the music started to play ready to walk up the aisle. All eyes were on us. Wayne had his back to us. With my boys both sides holding onto me its our que to start walking. Jan and Olivia both behind we start to walk nice and slowly. I remember the cameras going off and Waynes face staring at me smiling. As we get to the beautiful flowered archway Wayne holds out his hand to help me up the couple of steps to join him, Scott his brother the bestman, Kaya our labrador the ring bearer and Lyndsey our Celebrant.
I was overwhelmed with the amount of guests, all looking so beautiful and handsome in their suits and dresses. All come to see us get married.
The ceremony was beautiful and so very emotional. Lyndsey told the story of how we had met, how through the cancer I never believed anyone would ever want me but im so lucky to have found true love. Although his choice of song to walk back down the aisle to is rather debatable "Highway to Hell" !!
Whilst we went off to have the obligatory photos all the guests enjoyed the champagne/proscesso/wine and beers with some wonderful aperitifs by Sams Hogroast. The Poker and Blackjack gambling tables. Toasted marshmallows and giant jenga and connect four.
One hour later its Hog roast time which was absolutely fantastic. This was followed by The Ice Cream Cart. The salted caramel seemed to go down a treat. Never have I seen such a long que by adults waiting for ice cream. Good time to get out to the Taxi photo booth outside the marquee. Well I don't know about the kids having fun in that but I think the adults took over it was a scream.
Then it was time for Sitas Circus. We had fire eaters and an aerial display which was amazing, so exciting.
Not forgetting the wonderful wedding cake (made by the beautiful Suzanne Le Marquand) cutting where Wayne also gave me my birthday present. It was a couple of Robin ornaments. These have huge meaning to me which my family at the wedding knew. As my mum and dad are no longer with us I truely believe they are robins. When my dad died literally days after a robin appeared daily in our garden. But it wasn't just when we were at home we would see one if we were away for weekends too. So we named him dad. Then when we lost my mum suddenly it wasn't one robin but 2. It was so incredible and to this day we always see the robins together now mum and dad. So such a very special and thoughful gift to give me on my birthday and wedding day.
The strange thing is too, when Wayne and I was at La Hougue Bie with Julie the Site Organiser a robin appeared right infront of us and sat watching us for what seemed ages. It was an important meeting and that was my mum joining us for it. She needed to be there.
Anyway we cut the cake and it was absolutely devine. We had three layers. One double chocolate, one carrot and walnut and the other victoria sponge. cake heaven or what .
Now came the first dance. The very first song Wayne ever sent to me was Amazed by Lonestar. It became specil and so had to be our choice for the first dance. We had Jersey Bounce Band ready to play straight after which are fantastic. Ive been to see them a few times at the Jersey Opera House, just amazing band all 13 of them. So the music starts and we shuffle around or I try to with my dress but then Wayne decides to pick me up in his arms and sing to me. OMG how loving and magical like a fairy tale. I felt like a princess. However, I was rather worried about if anyone could see up my dress at first.
We had a fabulous day, we danced, we ate, I drank cups of tea and had a marvellous birthday and wedding day. How funny is this though, at the end of the night, we had quite a few vehicles up at the Heritage site so I drove myself home in my car wearing my wedding dress. Brilliant. Perfect end to a perfect day.
Next morning wasn't such fun clearing the whole marquee on my own whilst everyone else was asleep though !!!!
Our First Dance ....
So you see, even when life throws you a curve ball you don't give up. You put on your best smile, hold your head up, and show up again and again and again. Keep on living your life because your positive mindset will outshine any life threatening disease as if it was never there. I carried on going because I knew I wasn't done and look I found my prince charming. (Even with only one boob ! )
